Description
Limone |
Twisting streets, traditional stone cottages and narrow alleyways are Limone's style, a colourful character town on Lake Garda's western shore. Surrounding the village are gorgeous walks through citrus and olive groves, where cicadas are your chattering company. A grand mountain backdrop looks down on a long lakeside promenade, which stretches from the shingle beach at one end to the ancient fishing harbour on the other. Renowned for its colour, vibrancy and charm, Limone in summer is a blooming delight of oleanders, palms and cypress trees, adding perfume to the air of this popular resort, which entertains its visitors with frequent brass band concerts and occasional firework displays. Essentially a relaxed and relaxing placed, its cool porticoes were the inspiration of writers such as Ibsen and Lawrence. Nowadays there is a small selection of watersports available from the lake, an abundance of cafes, restaurants and bars and a disco. Lake ferries leave from the port on regular routes to neighbouring resorts. A good all-rounder. Transfer time approx 3.5 ' 4 hours from Venice airport. |
