The largest and liveliest resort on the island with great facilities, a friendly atmosphere and plenty of windsurfing for the enthusiast. Once a sleepy fishing village, Corralejo has developed over the years to become Fuerteventura's principal resort. It is surrounded by turquoise waters, desert-like sand dunes and golden beaches which are over three kilometres wide in some places and stretch for almost ten kilometres. There are also plenty of shops and supermarkets for stocking up on local goods plus a wide range of bars and restaurants. An ideal base for sightseeing, Corralejo provides easy access to peaceful backroads and beaches. The national park, which has some of the best sand dunes on the island, is only a short four kilometre drive. At night, the entertainment is varied enough to suit all tastes with a couple of discos for those who want a more lively evening plus local restaurants for those seeking a quieter time.
