Backed by the olive groves of Mount Skopos and situated next to Zante Town, Argassi is the oldest resort on the island and has a lot to offer. There are some lovely views, the mainland can be seen on a clear day. Argassi has a narrow stretch or sand and shingle beach, which is more than made up for with all the watersports on offer. A good choice of sandy beaches are not too far away on the Vasilikos peninsula. It has a good selection of shops and bars, and is a good central base for exploring the remainder of the island, with regular local buses into Zante Town.
