On the eastern shores of Lake Garda lies the town of Malcesine, a small peninsula at the foot of Monte Baldo. Malcesine is one of the most beautiful towns in the area. Originally a fishing village the narrow streets and piazzas of the ancient picturesque medieval centre are presided over by Della Scala Castle. The quaint harbour, surrounded by many bars and hotels, is the hub of tourist life in the town. From the base of Monte Baldo, you can take a cable car to the top where the views of the surrounding area are spectacular and the area is excellent for hiking, walking and mountain biking. The shingle beaches are ideal for swimming and a haven for sailing and windsurf enthusiasts. |
