East Africa - Kenya - Migration Safari Special

Second Image - Kenya - Migration Safari Special

First Image - Kenya - Migration Safari Special

The itinerary of this Kenya Migration Safari has been specially designed to put you at the heart of the annual Wildlife migration.

The Kenya Migration Safari is ONLY available from JUL - OCT 2012, so book NOW !!

You experience three very different regions - Samburu, rugged, beautiful and renowned for predators and elephant - Nakuru, located in the Great Rift Valley, famous for its flamingos and rhino and lastly the rolling grasslands of the Masai Mara with its vast herds - we think this is the perfect way to experience outstanding game viewing in this part of Africa where the idea of a safari truly began!

Day 1: Nairobi. On arrival you will be met by our Agent and transferred to the Safari Park Hotel where you will spend the night on a B&B Basis.

Day 2: Nairobi to Samburu. Your journey starts when you are met by your driver/guide and after a short pre-safari briefing you depart for Samburu. Enjoy this magnificent country as you drive on its rugged roads through rich farm land. Samburu Reserve lies 300km north of Nairobi on the hot and arid fringes of Kenya. You arrive in time for lunch followed by a game viewing drive. Overnight at the Ashnil Samburu Camp on a Full Board Basis.

Ashnil Samburu Camp is located in the Buffalo Springs Reserve, separated from the Reserve by the Uaso Nyiro River. Each of the 24 exclusive, comfortable, deluxe tents allow for uninterrupted views of the river, surrounding landscapes and all life it supports. Every tent offers king size or twin beds, dressing & sitting area, luggage rack and en-suite facilities.

On Day 3 you enjoy morning and afternoon game drives with all meals and you overnight at the Ashnil Samburu Camp on a Full Board Basis. The reserve lies within the lands of the Samburu people and is home to wildlife rarely found elsewhere in Kenya including Grevy's zebra, reticulated Giraffe, and Beisa oryx which are found only north of the equator. The graceful gerenuk, an antelope with its characteristic long neck, spends much of its time in a bipedal stance seeking relaxation in the sparse scrub that grows in this harsh terrain. This dramatic landscape is blanketed by the hot equatorial sun for most of the year. Relief comes from the cool waters of the Uaso Nyiro ("Brown") River, which rises to the west on the foothills of the Aberdares and which vanishes beyond Samburu in the soggy expanse known as the Lorian swamp. The scenery in Samburu is magnificent and the birdlife awesome.

Day 4: Samburu to Sweetwaters. After breakfast your tour continues to Sweetwaters, a sheltered oasis, clustered around a water hole and set in the pristine and private Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Arrive in time for lunch which will be followed by a late afternoon game viewing drive. Overnight at the Serena Sweetwaters Tented Camp on a Full Board Basis.

Game here includes elephant, giraffe, zebra and impala and you will also visit the 200-acre Chimpanzee sanctuary established by Kenya's Wildlife Service and the Jane Goodall Institute. Over twenty orphaned and abused chimps reside here while becoming rehabilitated so they may be re-introduced to the wild. Sweetwaters also boasts almost 400 bird species.

Day 5: Sweetwaters to Nakuru. Today you head for Lake Nakuru, perhaps the most famous of Africa's great soda lakes and home to hundreds of thousands of Greater and Lesser Flamingos and many other water bird species. Enjoy an afternoon game drive before proceeding to the Sarova Lion Hill Lodge, staying on a Full Board Basis.

Built in a natural dais, overlooking one of the world's greatest ornithological spectacles, the Sarova Lion Hill Lodge impresses with its panoramic views of Lake Nakuru. The Lodge is surrounded by natural flora and fauna and you can enjoy the vista from the privacy of your own verandah.

The Rift Valley is one of the most spectacular natural features on earth. Visible from outer space, it stretches 5,500km, spans two continents and runs from Jordan, through Kenya to Mozambique. No country boasts such vivid panoramas of the Great Rift Valley as Kenya.

Day 6: Nakuru to Masai Mara. This morning you depart for the Masai Mara after breakfast, arriving at your lodge in time for lunch. Enjoy a afternoon game drive. Overnight Ashil Mara Camp on a Half Board Basis. This new Lodge is a fantastic safari stay option and is receiving great reviews.

Day 7: Masai Mara. Morning and afternoon game drives. With the reserve borders between Kenya and Tanzania unfenced, the wildlife is free to migrate and the Mara is probably best known for it's annual wildebeest migration. Lion, cheetah and leopard are spotted often, however it is the vast herds which will leave you spellbound. Overnight Ashnil Mara Camp on a Half Board Basis.

Day 8: Mara to Nairobi
. After breakfast you are transferred back to Nairobi where sadly, your tour ends at the Airport.

This package can be booked as per the details above, however it is best combined with a beach stay of 4 or 6 Nights in a resort along Mombasa's sandy shores. Please ask us if you would like to extend your stay!

At GoHop.ie we have extensive knowledge of East Africa, so please ask if you would like a tailor-made safari package!
