First Image - Dolphin Coast - 6 Days Self Drive Tour
There are few places in the world that leave such a powerful and lasting impression as a holiday to Australia does. Perhaps it's the pure air, the brilliant sunshine, or the instantly relaxing atmosphere which produces such a unique sense of exhilaration. White sands and tropical reefs, fiery red earth and megalithic rocks, forbidding outback and underwater seascapes; for every side of Australia you already know, there is another waiting for you to discover.

DAY 1

PERTH - CERVANTES (260 kms)

Pick up your HERTZ INTERMEDIATE SEDAN rental car at the Perth City Depot (or Perth Airport Depot at additional cost) and commence drive via the Brand Highway to Cervantes. Just before the town of Badgingarra, leave the highway and travel to the coast to reach Cervantes.

CERVANTES is a crayfishing centre, and appeals to anglers because of the wide range of fish that can be caught from the shore. The town’s beaches are ideal for swimming, boating and especially windsurfing.

NAMBUNG NATIONAL PARK almost surrounds the town of Cervantes, and its major draw, the Pinnacles, are 29 km to the south. Here thousands of limestone pillars, standing up to 4 metres tall, dot the barren landscape. The main northern access road into the park is from Cervantes. There is a one way loop track of about 5km through the pinnacles area which is suitable for all vehicles.   There are places to park so you can explore the pinnacles area on foot. Leading from the Ranger Station there is a 500 metre loop walk that passes by hundreds of pinnacles with names such as the Sea, Koala, and Two Nuns. It takes in a splendid lookout with views over the area and to the coast 3kms away.

Day 2

CERVANTES - GERALDTON (285 kms)

Depart Cervantes today and return to the Brand Highway - travel north via Badgingarra, Eneabba and Dongara to reach Geraldton.

BADGINGARRA NATIONAL PARK is home to an abundance of wildflowers, including many species of kangaroo paws, banksia, verticordia etc. The Badgingarra Nature Trail begins and finishes west of the Brand Highway near the Badgingarra Roadhouse. The walk takes 90 minutes and you’ll find emus and kangaroos are a common site on the trail.

GERALDTON's boundary of safe beaches, its year long surf scene, the wildflowers, scenic attractions and rich historic features, give it a magnetic appeal to those who want a carefree holiday. It is known as Sun City, because it boasts of an average of 8 hours sunshine a day, all year round. Points of interest include The Wishing Well Lookout which overlooks the city with its Norfolk pines lining the beach front, The Geraldton Museum and The Point Moore Lighthouse.

Day 3

GERALDTON - MONKEY MIA (410 kms)

Depart Geraldton today on the North West Coastal Highway, passing through the towns of Northampton and Binnu. Leave the highway at the Overlander Roadhouse, and travel out to the coast, through the town of Denham to arrive at Monkey Mia.

MONKEY MIA - has in recent years attracted more attention than most out-of-the-way tourist resorts. This isolated beach on Shark Bay has created international interest because of its dolphin population. The dolphins have been visiting the beach since the 1960’s. Shark Bay, which surrounds the peninsula on which Monkey Mia is located, is a World Heritage area, acclaimed for its dugong population. For more information visit the Shark Bay Tourist Bureau at Denham.
