Enjoying a fabulous climate of year-round sunshine, Tenerife, located just off the north coast of Africa, is the largest of the Canary Islands. An extremely popular holiday destination, modern, well-equipped resorts like Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos offer just about every facility you can imagine, including some of the most sophisticated nightlife in Europe. There are also endless stretches of dark sandy beach to laze on, or take time out to explore the surrounding area. In the sub-tropical north, you'll discover towering cliffs and lush valleys, banana plantations and colourful carpets of exotic flowers. Conversely, the south is almost desert-like with sun-soaked plains and lovely sheltered bays. Dominating the island and well worth a visit is Mount Teide, a giant volcano which at 3,800 metres is Spain's highest peak. All in all, Tenerife has something for everyone. Kids will love the beaches and waterparks, whilst Mums and Dads appreciate the low prices. Then, of course, there's the young and lively crowd, who will no doubt party so much, they'll need another holiday to recover! |
