Avoiding Jet Lag : Drinking enough water, adjusting to your destination's night and day schedule right away, and using over-the-counter or taking something to induce sleep may help you avoid jet lag better
Lost Baggage : Baggage can go missing, or get damaged when travelling. If your luggage is lost or damaged in transit, report it immediately to the handling agent at the airport. You are then in a position to point out any damage and give an accurate description of the missing piece and provide the baggage identification number. It is much more difficult to report lost or damaged baggage once you have left the airport, so check everything before you leave.
Medicap prep : Do some medical research before going overseas. Find out whether the countries you are visiting require vaccinations and whether preventive measures or inoculations are mandatory or advisable.
If you wear glasses : Pack a spare pair of glasses or contact lenses, and take along a copy of your prescription. Also take contact lens solutions, as they may not be available overseas.
Insurance Cover : The cost of medical treatments can prove extremely expensive in foreign countries, so it's absolutely vita to take out adequate coverage. Check that your policy will cover the cost of flying you and your travelling companions home should the need arise and that there are no major exclusions. If you are planning adventurous sporting activities please ensure that your policy covers you for such activities. Don't take it for granted. Check the provisions of your policy to understand any exclusion clauses, I.e. pregnancy, previous illnesses etc.
