The climate of the city is hot and humid in the summers, and cold in the winters. The best time to visit New Delhi is during the spring seasons when the city is at its full beauty. During the months of February to April and August to November the city of Delhi has a pleasant climate. The city witnesses warm weather with temperature in summer rising up to 45 oC and the winters are also quite cold with temperature dropping as low as 5 oC.


Getting around Delhi
Bus : Bikaner House (23383469; Pandara Rd), near India Gate, operates good state-run buses. There are services to Jaipur (non-AC/AC Rs 270/460, six hours, several services daily between 6am and midnight); Udaipur (Rs 518, 15 hours, one daily service at 7.30pm); Ajmer (Rs 36, nine hours, daily at 7.30pm, 10pm and 11.15pm); and Jodhpur (Rs 460, 11 hours, one daily service at 10pm).

Delhi’s main bus station is the Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT; 23860290; Kashmiri Gate; 24hr), north of the (Old) Delhi train station. It has a 24-hour left-luggage facility (Rs 15 per bag). This station can be chaotic so arrive at least 30 minutes ahead of your departure time

Train
For foreigners, it’s easiest to make ticket bookings at the International Tourist Bureau (23405156; 1st fl, New Delhi train station; 8am-8pm Mon-Sat, to 2pm Sun).

There are two main stations in Delhi – (Old) Delhi train station in Old Delhi, and New Delhi train station at Paharganj; make sure you know which station serves your destination (New Delhi train station is closer to Connaught Place). If you’re departing from the Delhi train station you should allow adequate time to meander through the often-snail-paced traffic of Old Delhi.

Many trains between Delhi and Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner and Udaipur operate to and from Sarai Rohilla train station, about 4km northwest of Connaught Place.

The Humayuns Tombs very peaceful and beautiful a mix of Persia and Indian architecture.
JamaMasjid is one of biggest mosques in India – I wanted so badly to have the opportunity to visit this mosque but I was not allowed inside because I was a woman unaccompanied by a man :( . Jama Masjid has the most fascinating atmosphere around it, thousands of people in narrow streets. Below the massive stairs of the Jama Masjid is Meena Bazaar where you will have a wholesome shopping experience!

Red Fort you can actually walk from Jama Masjig to the red fort you "only" have to cross the road. The red fort is the largest of Old Delhi's monuments is a massive construction. If you can check it out the evening light and sound shows at Red Fort.

National museum -Absolutely fantastic. is the biggest Musem of India which holds variety of articles ranging from pre-historic era to the modern work of art.

Birla House where Gandhi lived the last days of his life is now converted into a museum address: 5 Tees January Marg. And you also can visit the Indira Gandhi Memorial Museu in Safdarjung Road.

Lotus Temple - This is the Bahá'í Mashriqu'l-Adhkar, better known as the "Lotus Temple", a lotus-shaped outline has etched itself on the consciousness of the city's inhabitants, capturing their imagination and fuelling their curiosity. Since its dedication to public worship in December 1986, the temple has seen millions of people cross its threshold, making it one of the most visited edifices in India.

India Gate is constructed as a memorial and was built in the memory of 90,00 soldiers who laid down their lives during world war I. Located at Rajpath, India Gate is 42 m high and is popular relaxation area during the summer evenings. India Gate also act as popular pinic spot during winter. Also known as the All India War Memorial, India Gate was designed and constructed by Lutyens

Jantar Mantar is one of the top attractions of Delhi. It draws a stream of visitors all round the year. With hotels of Delhi you can have the glimpse of the astronomical advancement India had made in ancient period. The observatories are known as Jantar Mantar which derives it name from the corruptions of the words 'yantra' (instrument) 'mantra' (formula) over the period. The Jantar Mantar at Delhi is located on Sansad Marg between Connaught Place and Rashtrapati Bhavan. It is the largest and the best preserved compared to the other four open-air observatories which were built by Sawai jai Singh in Varanasi, Jaipur, Mathura and Ujjain.

Parliament House - Built in a circular shape, the Parliament House comprises of three semicircular chambers that are meant for the Legislatures and a Central Library having a 27.4m high dome. Covering 2.02 hectares of area, the dome is 173 wide in diameter and is enclosed by a verandah and 144 columns. Formerly the three semi circular chambers were designed for the Chamber of Princes, the Legislative Assembly and the Council of State. Presently, these three chambers houses the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and the Library. Though the entry is free, visiting the Parliament House in New Delhi requires a prior official permission. Another factor that needs to be kept in mind is that whether the Parliament is in session or not. You can enter the library after obtaining an entry pass. Foreign tourists need to apply to their embassy for a visit at the Indian Parliament House. After obtaining the permission, the visitors can enter the public galleries of the Indian Parliament House

Rajghat is the place where Mahatma Gandhi, revered as the Father of Nation was cremated. This memorial to Mahatma Gandhi is located between the main Ring Road and the banks of Yamuna River, towards the southeast of Red Fort. It is just 4 kms away from Janpath towards the North east of Feroz Shah. While you visit the Rajghat Complex, you will see trees labeled near the platform. These trees were planted by the various dignitaries who visited Rajghat like Queen Elizabeth II, Former Australian Prime Minister Gough Whitman, Ho Chi Minh, Former US President Dwight Eisenhower and so onRashtrapati Bhavan
