Recommended Hotels in Havana and Cuba:

The most popular hotel in Havana is the 5* Parque Central Hotel located on the Prado overlooking the Parque Central Park followed by the more local style 3*+ Telegrafo hotel situated just across the road. Both hotels are a good standard and reasonably priced. Other alternatives include the Ambos Mundos, The Nacional, The Saratoga and the Santa Isabel to name but a few. In general in Havana you would normally drop half a star from European standards to get a feel for their true standard. This is true in all of the hotels named above with the exception of the Parque Central which I feel is a very good representation of a 5*.

For those who want to incorporate a city break with a holiday on the resplendent beaches, I would recommend a stay in the wonderful resort of Varadero only 2 hours or so by road east of Havana. In Varadero the hotels are all offered on an all-inclusive basis and the most highly recommended would be the Tryp Peninsula, Iberostar Varadero, Playa Alameda, Sandals Royal Hicacos and the Paradisus Princessa del Mar all of which are beautiful beachfront properties with a host of bars and restaurants in each.
