A country that embodies quintessential Africa, Tanzania holidays belong on every travel bucket list. Tanzania is home to incredible wildlife, Mount Kilimanjaro, the Serengeti, and the white beaches of Zanzibar.
Things to Do in Tanzania
- Go on safari and witness iconic wildlife in their natural habitat. Boasting the Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania is brimming with wildlife. Discover lions, leopards, elephants, rhino, giraffes, and more on safari.
- Test your endurance at the Mount Kilimanjaro National Park. Brave adventurers can attempt the summit, while those seeking something less intense can hike the base. Either way witnessing a sunrise/sunset at Mount Kilimanjaro is spellbinding.
- Pay your respects to our ancient ancestors at the Olduvai Gorge. Believed to be the cradle of humankind, this gorge homes ancient human remains and is a fascinating archaeological site.
- Head to Zanzibar. An exotic island brimming with white sandy beaches, azure seas, shady palm trees, tropical fruit orchards, and the historic Stone Town Zanzibar is paradise.
Best Time to Visit
Tanzania weather varies depending on season and area. Dry seasons last June to October and January to February, making these times best for travel.
Game viewing in the north is great all year round, while the south is best from June to October, however expect rainfall from March to May (Rainy season). The best time to visit Zanzibar is from June to October and December to March.
Visit Zanzibar around February for the Sauti Za Busara Festival. Held in Stone Town, this festival celebrates East African culture through Swahili music, dance, crafts, and ending in a beach party.
Take a trip in July for the Zanzibar International Film Festival – also called the Festival of the Dhow Countries. A festival of film screenings, craft classes, entertainment, and of course beach parties.
Why We Love It
“The inspiring wildebeest migration, the highest free-standing mountain, the gin-clear waters of Zanzibar, and some of Africa's best game viewing, make Tanzania one of my favourite holiday destinations in the world”.
