Chiang Mai Holidays
Lush jungles, colourful markets, ancient temples, and gorgeous scenery, Chiang Mai holidays manage to combine wild adventure with an infectious laidback charm.
Things to Do in Chiang Mai
- Come face to face with an Asian elephant. Take a trip to the Elephant Nature Park to feed and bathe rescued elephants. No rides, no tricks, and no cruelty – this is elephant interaction as it should be.
- Shop for bargains at the Sunday Walking Street Market. There’s also a great night market, but the Sunday market is definitely Chiang Mai’s best bazaar.
- Grab a coffee and banana smoothie at the Funky Monkey Café. Cheap, caffeinated and delicious, these smoothies make a great breakfast.
- Chiang Mai is the trekking capital of Thailand, visit remote villages, swim in crystalline rivers and track wildlife on an exciting jungle trek.
Best Time to Visit
Dec-May: This is dry season in Chiang Mai, although it's generally quite hot throughout the whole year. That said, it is far less humid than other cities such as Bangkok. June to November is rainy season with most rainy days occurring in August and September.
Take a trip in November for the Loy Krathong Festival. Watch thousands of candles float away in lotus-leaf boats and paper balloons carrying away sins and bad luck – it’s a magical sight.
Why We Love It“Chiang Mai is such a wonderfully pretty place that even just going for a walk along the town is a real treat. The Elephant Nature Park is a must-do, and I would definitely recommend going trekking, even if you're not that experienced.”
