Bangkok to Koh Samui Thai Experience

Bangkok to Koh Samui Thai Experience
Known as the land of smiles, the incredibly welcoming Thai people are what made Bangkok the most visited city in the world in 2016. One of the best places to simply sit back and watch the world go by, your first visit is unlikely to be your last.

One of the largest of the 1,430 off Thailand's coast, Koh Samui will make for a gentle change of pace to the mesmerizing chaos of the capital. Resting on a private cove overlooking the spectacular Lamai Bay,  5-Star Banyan Tree Samui is the perfect place to escape the worries of normal life.

Things to Do

  • Many of the 35,000 Thai temples are within travelling distance of Bangkok. The Buddha statue in Wat Traimit is the largest gold statue in the world, worth around €230 million!
  • Chatuchak Weekend Market is one of the largest outdoor markets in the world, selling an incredible variety of food, clothing and traditional crafts. Be sure to try the delicious coconut ice cream!
  • Regardless of your experience levels, the Discovery Dive Centre can let you explore the underwater world around Koh Samui. The area is brimming with everything from tiny multicoloured fish to whale sharks, the largest fish in the world.
  • Try to not be turned off by the name, but Café 69 is one of the best restaurants on Koh Samui. Serving up their own take on traditional Thai dishes, reserving a table is key as it gets exceptionally busy.

Best Time to Visit

Jan-Mar: It's very rare that either Bangkok or Koh Samui ever see daytime temperatures below 28°C, but these months are usually a good time to avoid the rain. New Year celebrations kick off in April so the city will get busy, but the months prior to that are considered shoulder season.
