Spirit of the Americas 17 Days

Welcome to your Spirit of the Americas adventure. This trip is a truly unique experience as it takes you to the world-famous Galapagos Islands, as well as into the Amazon rainforest. It is especially perfect for anyone with a love of nature.

About Ecuador

One of South America’s smallest nations, yet one of the most fascinating. Brimming with stunning Pacific beaches, smouldering conical volcanoes, dense Amazonian rainforests, and snow-capped Andean mountain peaks, Ecuador’s landscape is incredibly diverse.

Ecuador is an incredibly colourful land, inhabited by incredible and colourful peoples. The majority of Ecuadorians are mestizo, a fascinating mix of Indian and Spanish heritage, although there are also numbers with European and African roots.

Resting in the heart of the Andes is the Ecuador’s vibrant capital, Quito. One of South America’s most beautiful cities, Quito is packed full of colonial architecture, Andean markets and residents that remain closely connected to their Indian tradition.

Surrounding Quito is a myriad of captivating sights, from the pretty town of Cuenca in the south, the naturally occurringPapallacta thermal baths, enigmatic cloud forests, to Cotopaxi, the world’s highest volcano. Ecuador’s mountains and forests are filled with natural beauty.

Even more diverse than its marvellous landscape and dynamic people, is the wildlife of this small but mesmerizing land. From the dense Amazon rainforest in the east to the enthralling Galapagos Islands lying off the country’s coast, Ecuador is overflowing with fantastic fauna.

Ecuador’s Oriente (East) region is engulfed by the Amazonian rainforest. This vast area of dense jungle is home to all kinds of fascinating flora and fauna, and with more bird species per square kilometre than any other place on earth. Ecuador’s Oriente is a true paradise for any lover of nature.

While the Oriente is rich in both captivating wildlife and stunning scenery, it is the Galapagos Islands that draw travellers from all corners of the world to Ecuador’s lands. Made famous by the work of Charles Darwin, these extraordinary islands are home to countless fascinating creatures, from the giant tortoise and marine iguanas, to blue footed boobies and colossal whale sharks. The Galapagos Islands are the quintessence of nature’s diversity.

Around four times the size of Ireland, Ecuador’s lands are jam-packed full of spectacular sights, remarkable wildlife and curious culture. Named after the equator that runs right through the country, Ecuador is sure to capture your imagination with the sheer variety of landscapes, cultures, flora and fauna. So come and discover this country of vibrant colours, charismatic people and wonderful diversity.
