Tanzania Great Plains Tented Safari

Tanzania Great Plains Tented Safari
Home to the ancient Maasai Tribe, Ngorongoro Crater and the incredible wildebeest migration in Serengeti, Tanzania is a safari destination waiting to be explored. From tracking the Big Five to spending nights in luxury campsites, you’ll soon see just what makes this Tanzania safari so special.
Follow the pace of the local wildlife in the mobile Serengeti Explorer Camp. The camp itself is transported three times a year to make game viewing as rewarding as possible. What makes its mobility even more impressive is that the camp’s modern and luxurious tents look like permanent fixtures.

Tanzania Safari Attractions

  • Simply mentioning Serengeti National Park creates a vision of wild Africa. The great wildebeest migration needs little introduction, but it’s definitely worth planning your trip to include this incredible natural event.
  • A hot-air balloon safari in Tarangire National Park or in Serengeti is an incredible way to track wildlife whilst enjoying natural beauty.
  • Ngorongoro Crater is home to the critically endangered African black rhino, as well as a healthy population of elephant. One of the largest craters of its kind in the world, the dramatic scenery surrounding its parks and forests make for incredible Tanzania safari photos.

Best time to visit

January - March: This is a superb time of year for a Tanzania safari as the main foaling season in the Southern Serengeti & Ndutu Plains occurs during these months. High numbers of migratory birds make it a great time for birdwatching too. The wildebeest migration will also be close to Ngorongoro Crater.
July - October: Probably the pick of the season, meaning the Northern Safari Circuit will be quite busy. Thinned out vegetation and water becoming more scarce makes tracking wildlife much easier.

Our opinion

Andre - “I’ve always thought of Tanzania as one of the most naturally beautiful countries in Africa, and that’s saying a lot! From mass migrations in Serengeti, to the jungle-clad base and ice-capped peak of Mt Kilimanjaro, it’s easy to see why it’s so popular.”
