Dominican Republic Honeymoon
White-sand beaches, stunning mountain ranges and charming towns dating back to Christopher Columbus’ New World make the Dominican Republic a remarkable honeymoon destination.
Why Dominican Republic Honeymoons?
The exquisite beaches, vast countryside home to Pico Duarte, the tallest mountain in the Caribbean, and charming cities and towns perfect for a romantic stroll. It’s incredible how much wonderful variety is packed into this small Caribbean nation.
Things For Couples To Do
- The capital city of Santo Domingo makes a great introduction into Dominican culture. The nightlife is phenomenal too, and a great place to enjoy some of the boisterous merengue or bachata dancing.
- The coastline between Punta Cana and Bavaro is home to some of the Dominican Republic’s finest beach resorts. There are dozens of water activities on offer, but its crystal-clear waters are exactly what you’d expect on a Caribbean island.
- For a quieter beach, the Bahía de Las Águilas is difficult to reach, but worth it for those willing to go off the beaten track. Located on the southwestern end of the island, it’s rarely visited by tourists, giving you a chance to escape the crowds on your Dominican Republic honeymoon.
- Cascada El Limón is a waterfall located about 30 mins drive away from Las Terrenas. Scenic horseback rides can be taken up to the stunning falls, where you can take a dip in the cool water, or simply wander around the natural surroundings.
Best time To Visit
April-May: The Dominican Republic’s climate stays warm all year. That said, the months of July and August, as well as from December to April, are the busiest times of year. Hotel prices drop after April, as do the crowds in the most popular spots for a more peaceful Dominican Republic honeymoon.
The famous Carnival is held in Santo Domingo every February, and the last weekend sees thousands of people celebrating in the capital’s streets. Colourful masks and costumes, as well as roaring music are all common sights, as the nation celebrates Dominican Independence Day.
Why we love Dominican Republic Honeymoons
“Though known for its pristine beaches, all-inclusive resorts and golfing, there is so much more to the Dominican Republic. I think it would ideal for all kinds of honeymoon couples, as there is so much to do from scuba diving and horseback riding to rock climbing and mountain biking. For those looking for a more relaxing time, Punta Cana has some of the world’s best beaches and the most luxurious hotels.”
