An underwater world brimming with colourful creatures both great and small, as well as lush forests and stunning mountains make up the wonderfully relaxed islands of Fiji. A common phrase to be heard is “island time”, as the pace of the Fiji seems to be that bit more chilled than anywhere else in the world.
Why Fiji Honeymoons?
The relaxed atmosphere coupled with the gorgeous natural scenery are what make a Fiji honeymoon so remarkable. Whether you want to explore underwater and on land, or simply enjoy the local culture and sample the unique effects of the Kava drink.
Things For Couples To Do
- The calm, clear waters surrounding Fiji are ideal for scuba diving or snorkelling, regardless of your level of experience. Colourful reefs that are home to equally vibrant fish are easily found, and those willing to explore the deep can find gems like tiger sharks and sea turtles.
- The Kadavu Group are not only coated in secluded beaches, but the lack of infrastructure and commercialisation give a taste of authentic Pacific island life. They are also a fantastic place to explore the renowned Great Astrolabe Reef.
- Visiting some of the many villages dotted across the islands is highly recommended, as Fijian people are some of the friendliest, and most relaxed you’ll ever find. From eating delicious meals cooked underground using the traditional Lovo method, to drinking Kava, try to experience as much of the culture as possible on your Fiji honeymoon.
- For something a bit different, Naihehe Caves (also known as Cannibals Caves) are an intriguing place to learn about Fiji’s history and culture. You’ll get to enjoy a traditional lunch, as well as a ride on a bamboo raft known as a “bilibili”.
Best Time To Visit
May-September: The climate stays quite warm all year, although this is the dry season in Fiji and is usually considerably more comfortable. The busiest months are July and August, so travelling outside of these months will make things cheaper, as well as give you a better chance for a peaceful Fiji honeymoon.
Why We Love Fiji Honeymoons
“The beautiful islands of Fiji more than make up for the long trip. To see what I mean, take a cruise around the Yasawa Islands and pick the perfect spot to spend your days lying on the beach. The crystal clear water of the Pacific is ideal for diving, and there is some fantastic coral reef brimming with colourful fish.”
